We agree with the doctrinal statement of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada.

Holy Bible - We believe the Holy Bible to be the complete Word of God; that the sixty-six books, as originally written, comprising the Old and New Testaments were verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and are entirely free from error and closed to any further extra biblical revelation. The Bible is the only source of absolute truth and final authority in all matters of faith and practice and true basis of Christian unity. The Bible is eternally relevant despite cultural pressures to compromise the integrity of the Scriptures.

God - We believe in one God, Creator of all, who is all-knowing, all-powerful and all-present, holy, sovereign, and eternal, existing in three equal Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The existence of Almighty God is revealed by: His creation of the heavens, the earth and mankind; His Word the Holy Bible; the earthly ministry and atoning death of His Son; and the redemption and transformation of lost sinners by His Spirit.

Christ - We believe in the absolute and essential deity of Jesus Christ, in His eternal existence with the Father in pre-incarnate glory, in His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, triumphant ascension, meditational ministry and personal return.

Holy Spirit - We believe in the deity and person of the Holy Spirit who knows the mind of God and who convinces of sin, righteousness and judgements. Who regenerates, seals, baptizes at the moment of salvation, fills, sanctifies, illuminates, transforms and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ.

Satan - We believe that Satan exists as an evil personality and power, the originator of sin, the archenemy of God and mankind. Satan’s power and authority are exercised always and only within the permissive will of God. Satan is aided by fallen angels known as demons, devils or evil spirits, who are capable of possessing the lost and oppressing the believer.

Man and Sin - We believe that man was divinely created in the image of God; that when both Adam and Eve sinned against God, sin entered the human race, becoming guilty before God, resulting in total depravity, thereby incurring physical and spiritual death.

Salvation - We believe that Jesus Christ voluntarily suffered as a sinless substitute for us, resulting in the blessing to us of paying the penalty for our sins. On behalf of all humanity, Christ has paid the purchase price (redemption) with that of His blood shed upon the cross and because we have been bought with that price, we are to serve Him. By Christ Jesus freely offering Himself as a final sacrifice, He has satisfied (propitiation) the wrath of God. Therefore, justification (to be declared justified by God) is by faith alone in the all-sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and that those whom God saves by His grace, shall be divinely preserved and finally perfected in the image of the Lord. Thus one becomes at peace with God.

Second Coming of Christ - We believe in the personal, visible, imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His Church and in His coming in glory with the Believers to set up His millennial kingdom upon the earth followed by an eternal kingdom on a new heaven and earth. The saved will forever be in His presence and fellowship while the unsaved will forever be separated from God and His fellowship in eternal punishment.

The Local Church - We believe that a local church is a fellowship of believers called out to: glorify and exalt the name of God; to serve the Lord by exercising our spiritual gifts and natural talents for the benefit of the church; to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We believe it is a sovereign, independent body, exercising its own divinely awarded gifts, precepts and privileges under the Lordship of Christ. We believe its overseers are men, called by God, to be Pastors/Elders and Deacons.

Creation - We believe that God created the universe and all that is in it in six literal 24-hour days.

The Lord’s Day - We believe that the first day of the week (Sunday) is the Lord’s Day, a day for worship, edification and fellowship.

Civil Government - We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, consciously honoured and obeyed, except only in the things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the conscience and the Prince of the kings of the earth.

Marriage - We believe that marriage is a divinely created institution by God. It is the foundation of the family, the Church, and the nation. Therefore, we affirm that God’s intention for marriage is repeatedly established in both the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible; we also affirm that God ordained marriage as a voluntary union of one man and one woman for life. Please contact us should you require a more complete version of our statement of faith. Fellowship Baptist Church is affiliated with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada
